Following the release of CCTV footage, a woman has been apprehended for pushing a three-year-old girl onto live train tracks.
The incident occurred at Portland’s Gateway Transit Center MAX platform in Oregon, US, where the toddler was standing with her mother before being pushed.
The CCTV footage captured the woman sitting behind the toddler and suddenly pushing her onto the tracks below.
As a result, the child fell face first and hit the rail, but was thankfully rescued by kind strangers before the next train arrived.
As a result of the fall, the child complained of a severe headache and exhibited a small red mark on their forehead.
The suspect, 32-year-old Brianna Lace Workman, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt stated, “Today Brianna Lace Workman, 32, was arraigned on Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Interfering with Public Transportation, Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.”
According to Schmidt, “The charges stem from an incident on the evening of Wednesday, December 28, at the Gateway Transit Center MAX platform in Northeast Portland, where Workman allegedly shoved the three-year-old child off the platform and onto the MAX train tracks without provocation.”
Furthermore, “The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges, including an offense for which Oregon law permits pretrial detention, and is requesting that Workman remain in custody and be held without bail.”
It’s important to note that “a charging document is only an accusation of a crime, and Workman is innocent unless and until proven guilty.”
