Marty was born in 1956, but his exact date of birth is unknown. Lagina is of Italian descent and grew up in Kingsford, Michigan, where he still lives. He grew up with his brother Rick Lagina. Marty from a young age was obsessed with the concept of wealth and in recent years, he left no stone unturned.

Lagina went to the University of Michigan and earned her graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1979, Marty graduated with a law degree and at the same time worked as a petroleum engineer for local companies. Then after getting the title he started his own company and called it ‘Terra Energy Limited’. This company was primarily concerned with resource development for shale gas in Michigan. Marty and his company hoped to become the largest operators in the industry. However, in 1995, he turned his business over to CMS for $58 million, which was a good deal at the time.

His family has always been linked to Italian descent. Marty then prioritized his family business and began to strive to make quality red wine. His company Villa Mari was based on Italian descent and Marty is responsible for most of the decisions that are made in the company.
