Liv Hewson was born on November 29, 1995 in Canberra, Australia, a town in the suburb of Hughes. They were born to parents, Angela and Tony Hewson who raised them alongside three siblings – Bryon Hewson, Hal Hewson, Daniel Hewson. Raised on the earnings of a psychologist and a civil servant, Liv Hewson attended Alfred Deakin High School, where she graduated before applying and attended Canberra College.
Considering that no one in their family had anything to do with theater or performance art as a whole, it is difficult to determine how they fell in love with art and pursued it as a career choice. They did, however, mention that they spent their childhood watching American shows and movies, such as The Simpsons and Futurama, through which they developed an American accent that has helped them so far in their careers. As part of their interest in theatre, they performed in many local productions at the Canberra Youth Theatre.
After graduating from Canberra College, LivHewson took a trip to America’s home of cinema, Los Angeles, for an acting workshop. While in America, they sought auditions for roles in different projects. Before that, in 2013, they starred in their first screen project, Alfonso Frisk, a short film where they played the character, Fenny Frisk.

Their short films and episodic performances in various shows eventually landed them their first major role in 2016, landing the cast to play Claire Duncan in the miniseries, Dramaworld. They starred in all 10 episodes of the series. 2016 ended on a high note with another guest appearance in the series finale of The Code. In 2017, Liv Hewson took her career a step further by starring Abby Hammond on the Netflix show, Santa Clarita Diet. They are one of the show’s main characters and strut their stuff with icons like Drew Barrymore.
The same year, they also played Top of the Lake, in a guest appearance for three episodes and starred in the critically acclaimed film, Before I Fall as Anna Cartullo. Other movie roles: Puzzle which was released in 2018 and also Fair and Balanced which has no release date yet. Although the Santa Clarita Diet is their biggest credit to date, they also appeared on Marvel’s Inhumans, playing Audrey in a recurring role for 3 episodes. The show, however, was largely ignored by critics and was a commercial failure.
Liv Hewson besides being an actress is also a playwright whose works have the characteristic theme of being reimaginings of mythology and fairy tales with a queer and dark slant. They also possess a comedic side having participated in stand-up comedy for Lemon Comedy.
