The victory of Governor Francis Nwifuru at the Supreme Court has been hailed by Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the Ebonyi State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as an affirmation of the mandate given to him by voters in the March 18, 2023 governorship election.
Speaking to newsmen in Abakaliki on Friday, Okoro-Emegha commended the justices of the Supreme Court for upholding the election victory of Gov. Francis Nwifuru.
Describing the judgement as a ‘landmark’ victory, the chairman called on opposition parties to join forces with the governor to drive the state forward.
Asserting his confidence in their case, Okoro-Emegha stated, “We never lost any sleep on the outcome of the Supreme Court case because we had a good case and had earlier won at the tribunal and Appeal Court.”
He emphasized, “The victory represents not only a victory for democracy but for the entire Ebonyi electorate that voted massively to elect Nwifuru.”
Further expressing his faith in Governor Nwifuru’s leadership, Okoro-Emegha said, “The governor has been in the service, first as speaker and he knows the needs of the people and he will just continue what he has already started.”
